Wool Rib and Diamond Tuck - Providence (by the half yard)
After almost a two-year absence, Providence is back in the shop! No longer a "custom knit", Providence is currently in stock and ready to ship. The new fabric is heavier and wider than the previous version with a width of approximately 60 inches (137 cm) relaxed. Providence will stretch about 40% crosswise.
The fabric is warm with a hand knitted look. It's perfectly suited for a chunky pullover, a jacket, or sweater coat. The beautiful medium-grade wool yarn was spun in New England and knitted in New Jersey. It's approximately 12 oz/sq yd (407 gsm).
Providence is available in four colorways. Blue agate is a deep sea blue green with the occasional tiny red fiber running through. Smoke grey (SOLD OUT) mixes several shades of light grey with a little bit of white. Dark burgundy is mostly the color of dark red wine with hints of black and cranberry. And there's a classic natural white.
Always prepare your fabric before cutting. Overlock or zigzag stitch along cut or raw edges, then launder your fabric in the same manner you'll use with your finished garment. In order to prevent felting or shrinking of wool, gentle washing by hand in cool water is recommended. Lay flat to dry. Or the fabric may be dry cleaned. (Detailed fabric care and more about the fabric can be found on the Crafting Fashion blog.)
Providence wool is sold by the HALF YARD (0.457 meter). After adding your selection to the cart, enter the number of half yard lengths you require, and update your total by clicking outside the box. Fabric of the same color and style will be delivered in one continuous piece.
If weight, hand, color, and stretch are important to your project, please view and order wool swatches "I" through "L" first.
